ABOUT THE ARTIST

I got my start near Colby Kansas 83 years ago. My parents moved around a lot and when I was 9 we moved to Ingalls, KS, where my dad was hired to remodel a nearby country church.        John, on the confession of his faith that Jesus is the Son of God, and by trusting in Him and Him alone for his salvation, John was baptized as a witness to his friends and family. The pond was muddy and full of alge but that made no difference. That same year John got his first job delivering papers in Dodge City. When John was 14 he got his driver's license and bought his first car, a '41 Chevy Coup.  The license cost $1 and the car was $75.

In 1960 John married Jane and in 1965 they had a son, Vern.

John started working at Pierce Corporation in Eugene, Oregon that year and bought a house in 1967. John and Jane still live in that house and have two grandsons, and a great granddaughter.

In 2004, John and Jane dismantled the 'Bike Barn' on Coburg Rd. and with the material built a shop in their back yard. The shop is where John spends many hours working on two or three projects at a time.
